About Pitwall
An open Formula 1 archive: every Grand Prix since 1950, with results, qualifying, laps and records, built so that anyone can look things up and understand them.
What it is
Pitwall brings the full history of the World Championship together in one place: seasons, drivers, teams and circuits, with charts, a driver comparison, a statistics explorer, shareable infographics and a simulator. It is a personal project by a fan and does not aim to replace official sources.
How it is updated
After every session an automated process loads the new data, checks that it is complete and publishes the site. If the data arrives incomplete, publishing stops and the site keeps the last good version.
Sources and licences
- F1DB — results, standings, drivers, teams and circuits from 1950 to today. Licence CC BY 4.0. Pitwall transforms and summarises this data.
- FastF1 (MIT) — library used to download lap times, sessions and telemetry from Formula 1 timing. FastF1 is unofficial and not associated with Formula 1.
- OpenF1 — official starting grid before each race. Licence CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 (non-commercial use).

How to read the numbers
Totals for wins, podiums, poles and points are those published by the source. Points are not comparable across eras: the scoring system has changed many times since 1950, and for decades only each driver’s best results counted.
